What is priority examination in trademark/patent registration?

Priority examination means that officer gives priority in examination to a particular application among the trademark/patent application, regardless of the order of application.

You can apply for priority examination in the cases that your trademark is being used or is being prepared for use in all designated products/services, or you request trademark investigation to a specialized agency designated by KPO(Korea Patent Office).

If you apply for priority examination, you can shorten the examination period of KPO which normally takes 6-12 months, to 2-3 months. However, an additional government fee of USD 160 and a legal fee of USD 110 will be charged to apply for priority examination(if you request trademark investigation to a specialized agency, USD 400 will be charged for investigation instead of a legal fee of USD 110).
